I am a PhD student in computer science at the University of Trento, Italy, where I am developing deep neural networks for perception in autonomous driving, as a contribution to the European H2020 Dreams4Cars project.
The aim of the project is to explore how the known cognitive capabilities of the human brain can be taken as an inspiration for the implementation of a more robust artificial driving agent.
My research focuses on the implementation of neural network models that mimic the phenomenon of mental imagery, which is considered to be at the heart of the human ability to perform sophisticated sensorimotor controls like driving.
Currently, I am on a visiting period at TU Delft, the Netherlands, where I collaborate with the Intelligent Vehicles group from the Cognitive Robotics department.
My scientific interests also include the development of evolutionary algorithms for architectural design. Moreover, I'm a 3D computer graphics artist, I've used the software Blender since 2013 in a variety of applications, such as architectural visualizations, forensic reconstructions of criminal events and simulations for scientific research.
